Greg Henke, Head Varsity Coach
Coach Greg Henke grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee playing youth baseball every summer. In high school, he turned his attention to basketball and tennis while attending Knoxville Catholic H.S. After earning his degree from the University of Notre Dame, coach Henke made the move to Arizona-- joining the faculty at Bourgade Catholic in 1988 and starting his baseball coaching career as the BCHS varsity assistant in 1990. Coach Henke spent 7 seasons as an assistant before taking over the reigns as the Head Coach in 2000. Career highlights include, capturing the 2010 2A State Championship, being the 2008 2A State Runner-Up and recognition as the 2A AZ Baseball Coaches Association coach of the year in 2010.
Coach Henke has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame and an M.S.C. in Counseling from the University of Phoenix. He is currently on the faculty of BCHS as the junior/senior Counselor.
Ryan Lemke, Assistant Varsity Coach
Coach Ryan Lemke is from Chicago, Illinois where he learned the game of baseball at a very young age. Ryan turned his attention solely to baseball after his sophomore year in high school where he was named to the all-area teams in 2008. He finished his senior year with the lowest E.R.A. in school history at 1.57. Ryan chose to attend Elgin Community College to continue playing baseball for his freshman year before suffering a shoulder injury. He graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education Teacher Education in 2015. Ryan’s coaching career started at Reavis High School in Chicago where he was a varsity assistant. Coach Lemke has been in the Valley since 2015.
This will be Coach Lemke’s first year on the varsity level at Bourgade Catholic after a year as the head coach at the JV level.
Gabe Laborin '95, Head JV Coach
Coach Gabriel Laborin grew up in the Granada neighborhood just a mile away from Bourgade Catholic. He attended St. Vincent de Paul Elementary while playing several youth sports including soccer, pop warner football, Little League and club baseball. Gabe is a proud Alumni (’95) of Bourgade Catholic where he played Baseball and was twice selected to the All-State team. He later played baseball at Phoenix College.
Gabe returns to Bourgade Catholic as the new JV Head Coach. He brings with him more than 10 years of experience as a coach at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Elementary, and other youth leagues, as well as experience in umpiring and private/group instruction. Coach Laborin resides in Phoenix with his wife, Nicole and their 6 children. He is excited about the upcoming baseball season and contributing to the success of Bourgade Catholic High School Athletics.
Eddie Tabor '83, JV Assistant
Coach Eddie Tabor is a Phoenix native and graduate of Bourgade Catholic, class of 1983. Eddie joined the Marine Corps shortly after graduation and retired in 2006, after attaining the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. He began coaching little league while still in high school and has coached at grade school, high school, and club levels in three countries.
Coach Tabor has two children, David and Isabella '16. He has a B.S. in Electronic Engineering and a B.A. in American History, both from North Carolina State University. He is currently employed by the Veterans Administration in Phoenix.
