International Student Program
From the desk of the Director:
As the first semester of the 2012-2013 academic year comes to an end I want to give an update on the current status of the International Student program. We currently have 4 international students studying with us. Qifeng Liu is a young man from Wuhan, China and is in his Junior year. He is currently in the basketball team and is looking forward to participating in the games. Heyi Zu is a young woman also from Wuhan, China. She is also in her Junior year and participating in the school band as a drummer. Jiaxin Du is a young woman who has joined us from Guangzhou, China and is a Sophomore. She likes our school but will wait to fully transition in before becoming more involved in clubs and athletics. Heyong Nam Choi is a young man who joins us from Korea. He is a Sophomre and is in his second year at Bourgade Catholic High School.
We are looking forward to welcoming two new students from China in January and one next August. These three are the fruit of a recruitment trip I was able to attend in China. The trip exposed me to the beauty of the Chinese culture as visible in the cities of Beijing, Guiyan, Nanning, Chengdu, and Guangzhou. During that time I was able to meet many students who are interested and excited about the opportunity to study in the United States. The International Student Program is an excellent way of helping our students grow to become globally aware citizens. Having the Chinese students here places them in direct contact with a world outside of their own. Please pray for the continued success of Bourgade Catholic's International Student Program. Thanks! Bourgade Catholic High School is a co-ed college preparatory high school of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix, Arizona, USA. Part of the mission and vision of Bourgade Catholic is to provide a quality Catholic education to a diverse community.
The International Student Program provides Bourgade Catholic the opportunity to welcome international students to be a part of our community. The 2012-2013 academic year will serve as an official start to the International Student Program, although international students have always been welcomed in the Bourgade Catholic community in the past. The ISP program at Bourgade Catholic places a strong emphasis on academics, solidifying students’ English speaking/writing skills, preparing students for college, exposure to the American culture, and providing a quality education in the Catholic tradition. Students in the ISP will be living with host families as they pursue their education at Bourgade Catholic.
