Amber Christenberry, Head Track & Field Coach
Coach Amber Christenberry graduated from Ironwood High School (Glendale, AZ) where she was a member of the girls’ varsity track and field team all four years. She finished third in the 5A-II state long jump championship (2008) and was the state runner-up in the 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay. She was also a member of the 4x100-meter relay which she placed first at the Meet of Champions. Her reputation at Ironwood resulted in the Most Valuable Female Athlete and Points Champion sophomore through senior year.
She attended her freshmen year of college at Glendale Community College in 2010 where she placed fourth in the 100-meter, fifth in the 400-meter hurdles, fourth in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump at the NJCAA Region I Championships. After one season with the Gauchos, Coach Tom Flood recruited her as a member of Grand Canyon University’s first track and field team. She was part of provisional qualifying team in the 4x100-meter relay, and won the 4x100-meter relay finals at the NAU Team Challenge. Towards the end of her time at GCU, she joined the cross country team placing top 5 among girls on the roster her first season, running a personal best of 20:20.00 in the 5K.
