Track and Field
n3/18/17 - On March 18th, the Golden Eagles Hosted the 1st Annual BCHS Small School Classic. The meet in the past was known as the Bourgade Catholic High School Invitational which allowed any school to participate. This year the new format featured only D3 and D4 schools and each division was scored separately. The meet was very exciting as the Boy's Team finished 1st and the Girl's Team finished 5th. In D4 there were 14 teams competing. The boy's teams posted numerous state qualifying marks on the day. The girl's team struggled and was missing a few of their best runners on the day. But they still managed to have a few athletes qualify for State.
3/24/17 - On March 24th, the Golden Eagles traveled up north to Heber, AZ to participate in the Mogollon Qualifier. We were on Spring Break and both teams came in very short-handed. The boys were missing their top 3 runners and struggled on the day finishing in 8th place. The girl's team was on the move and finished in 3rd place (missing 2nd place by 2 points). The girl's team had a string of personal records set.
3/28/17 - On Tuesday, March 28th the Golden Eagles traveled to South Mountain High School to participate in the ALA Invitational. This meet was just a tune-up for the upcoming weekend. The boy's and girl's teams concentrated on the relay races and fine tuning a handful of the individual events. Overall the boys' 4x800 challenged South Mountain High School (D2) in a race that was decided by a photo finish. The girls' 4x100 relay team would have won the event had it not been for a few bad handoffs, but their time was a personal record for the team. They now have their eyes set on the school record.
3/31/18 - The Golden Eagle Track Team once again traveled up north. This time for the Joseph City Invitational. It was a very cold and windy day and the Golden Eagles even had a chance to run in the snow for a few races. The day was capped off with the boys team pulling off another victory as they won the 16 team Meet by 2 points over Round Valley High School. The race was decided in the Boys 4x400 relay. The girls team pulled off a 3rd place finish, overall, and the girls' 4x100 relay team won the event on the day.
The next meet will be on April 8, 2017 at Seton Catholic High School in the 1st Annual Sentinel Invite.
