Make a Difference
College. Community. Christ. These three words describe the vision and reality for the entire Bourgade Catholic High School community. They are the motivation for our Advancement Office who is dedicated to inviting community members to be a part of our mission by building relationships that help lead to the growth and sustainability of Bourgade Catholic High School. Your gifts made in support of our community, through our giving programs, tax credit opportunities and fundraising events are all critical in assisting our students to discover their God-given potential through the Bourgade Catholic experience and the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Bishop Bourgade Annual Fund
EVERY GIFT MAKES A DIFFERENCE.
The Bishop Bourgade Annual Fund serves as a cornerstone for the school's continued growth. Gifts made to the fund can be directed to one of the following efforts.
Arizona Tax Credit Program
Did you know that you have a say in how to direct your state tax dollars? Community members paying taxes in the state of Arizona can redirect dollars to Bourgade Catholic High School through a variety of available school tuition organizations (STOs). These re-directions are then taken as tax credits, which are applied to your state tax liability at the time of filing your return. Bourgade students are then awarded the redirected funds through scholarships. This program is also available for qualifying businesses! Meet some of our STO partners below, and help give the gift of Catholic education.
The Adopt-a-Student Program is designed to provide a college preparatory, faith based education to students with financial obstacles that prevent them from attending Bourgade Catholic.
We ask members of the Bourgade Catholic High School community, local businesses and friends of BCHS to make a financial commitment to supporting a Bourgade Catholic student, ideally for 4 years. A number of donations to the Adopt a Student Program are made yearly to go to the most-needy student or are made in memory of a former Bourgade Catholic faculty member, administrator or student.
Students will be selected to receive Adopt a Student assistance based upon the following criteria:
Greg Henke Memorial Scholarship Fund
Greg Henke joined the Bourgade Catholic community in 1988 and served as teacher and counselor up until his sudden passing in March of 2017. In 1999, Henke took over the BCHS Baseball Program as the head varsity coach. Over 18 years of leading the varsity baseball program, Coach Henke amassed hundreds of wins, many state playoff appearances and a state championship in 2010. Off the baseball field, Henke was heavily involved in the school's campus ministry program and served as a guitarist and vocalist for school masses. In his later years, Henke taught theology and psychology, before becoming the school's upperclassmen counselor in 2016.
Greg Henke was a beloved mentor, coach, friend, father and husband. To ensure his legacy lives on through Bourgade's history, the Henke family has established a memorial scholarship fund in hopes of reaching $20,000 to have the scholarship endowed. Once endowed, a scholarship or scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis to help Bourgade Catholic students with tuition assistance. Peter van Leeuwen Scholarship Fund
Peter van Leeuwen touched the hearts of many people during his short years on earth as an altar boy and active parishioner at St. Jerome’s parish, a classmate and friend to all at Bourgade Catholic High School, an Honor student and Valedictorian of the Class of 1984 and as a National Merit Scholarship while attending Arizona State University.
An endowment was started in 1994 in memory of Peter and funds an annual scholarship to a student at Bourgade Catholic who characterizes the same academic excellence that Peter did.
