PHOENIX, SEPTEMBER 14, 2021 -- Yesterday, Principal Javier Bravo, Director of Admissions and Marketing, Miranda Maciel, and Advisory Board President, Kelley Tucker, joined trustees of Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust for a brief meeting.
After recognizing Bourgade's ability to meet the learning needs of students amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, trustees surprised our the school's representatives with a $1 million grant to support financial aid initiatives.
Principal Javier Bravo offered the following comments, "At Bourgade, we believe that all are welcome, and we strive to ensure that tuition is never an obstacle in a student's desire to receive a Bourgade education. The support of Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust will put us in a position to continue serving students for years to come. Though it is difficult to put into words the impact that this grant will have on Bourgade families both now and in the future, we pray that the continued formation of our students will serve as shining testaments to this wonderful gift. Our sincerest gratitude goes out to Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust for their inspiring support of Arizona organizations and communities."
In the largest single-day grant initiative in Arizona's history, $123 million in grant awards have been gifted to 71 organizations. This historical act of generosity will be forever known as the Now Is the Moment Grants Commemoration.
Class of 1984 graduate and current Advisory Board President, Kelley Tucker, who was in attendance during the surprise announcement, offered the following, "I am beyond excited at the amazing gift that Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust bestowed on the Bourgade Catholic Community. After I got over the shock from the school being presented a million-dollar check, I was overjoyed knowing that this gift will be transformative for the school, its initiatives, including our new Career and Technical Education Program, and being able to offer Catholic education to more families in our community. This gift will benefit the young adults we serve for years to come and for that, I am eternally grateful to Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust.
